◆ Revelations
How love exists in an expansive heart
I used to think the love of my life had to mean one person. Now I think some hearts are simply too expansive for that kind of mathematics. There are people who become indispensable in entirely different ways. A person can hold a piece of your history, another can meet your mind, another can challenge your becoming, another can know a part of you no one else has ever seen. None of these loves cancels the others. Because love is not always a competition for the same space. Some people don't occupy the whole of your heart. They occupy a place within it that nobody else could replace.

People often speak about the love of my life as though there can only be one.
One person.
One great love.
One name that rises above all the others.
But what if your inner world is large enough to hold more than one indispensable person?
What if love doesn't occupy a hierarchy, but an architecture?
There are people who belong to different rooms within us.
Someone may hold the history no one else could possibly hold.
Someone may meet your mind at a depth you've rarely experienced.
Someone may know the version of you that existed before everyone else knew her.
Someone may challenge you until you become more fully yourself.
Someone may carry a piece of your spiritual life.
Someone may simply make the world feel like home.
None of these loves diminishes the others.
Because indispensable does not mean interchangeable.
I don't have a small heart with one vacancy.
I have an expansive inner world.
And the people I love do not all occupy the same place within it.
Some are companions.
Some are witnesses.
Some are mirrors.
Some are challengers.
Some are family.
Some are friends who became something deeper than the word friend can adequately contain.
And some become permanent.
Not because I possess them.
Not because I need them to belong exclusively to me.
Not because I want to turn every profound connection into romance.
But because something between us became part of who I am.
So yes.
I may have more than one love of my life.
Because my life is not a single story.
And neither is my heart.
So for me, the loves I have are not hierarchical.
They all sit on the same stage of my heart.
Different places.
Different purposes.
Different stories.
But none above the other.
My heart was never built as a ranking system.
It was built with room.
One question awaits you.
