THE METRICS OF THE HUMAN SYSTEM
An inquiry into what happens within us, what we acknowledge, what we use, and what we become through experience.
Foundational Principles
- 01
A human being cannot be adequately understood through a single metric, because the human system is not a single-variable system.
- 02
What exists within me is not necessarily what I acknowledge. What I acknowledge is not necessarily what I use. What I use is not necessarily what I trust. And what I trust is not necessarily what I demonstrate.
- 03
Measurement should not merely capture what a person is. It should capture what happens to the person as they move through experience.
- 04
The researcher is not removed from the experiment. The researcher is part of what is being observed.
- 05
The state of the observer is itself an observable variable.
The Four Nested Layers
These are not four personality categories. They are distinct but interacting layers of one system, observed from the innermost outward. The outer layer is observable. The inner layers inform, influence and interact with it.
Innermost does not mean most important. The four layers are distinct, interdependent dimensions of one human system.
Influence is not exclusively outward. Behaviour can alter the heart; the heart can alter the mind; the mind can challenge or refine spiritual understanding. Experience can perturb the system at any layer.
Spirit: The innermost orientation
Meaning, purpose, values, conviction, alignment, relationship with God, deepest identity.
Descriptive orientation: the layer of why.
Mind: The interpretive and cognitive layer
Perception, reasoning, analysis, imagination, pattern recognition, questioning, integrating, understanding.
Descriptive orientation: the layer of how i think.
Heart: The affective and relational layer
Emotions, desires, attachments, fears, love, grief, compassion, longing, tenderness.
Descriptive orientation: the layer of what i feel.
Behaviour: The observable expression
Actions, decisions, habits, boundaries, responses, conduct, consistency, impact.
Descriptive orientation: the layer of what i do.
The Core Dimensions
Each dimension is applied to each layer, recorded as a 0–100 metric with qualitative notes. A higher number is not inherently better. The metric describes a state, not a verdict.
Capacity across the layers
Spirit · Capacity
What capacity exists within me for meaning, conviction, alignment or spiritual orientation?
Mind · Capacity
What cognitive capacity do I demonstrate for reasoning, abstraction, pattern recognition or integration?
Heart · Capacity
What emotional capacity exists for feeling, attachment, love, grief, vulnerability or compassion?
Behaviour · Capacity
What capacity exists to translate internal states into action, decisions, boundaries or conduct?
The dimension remains constant. What it observes changes according to the layer.
Capacity
What exists within me in this layer?
Acknowledgement
What do I consciously recognise?
Conscious Use
How much do I consciously employ it?
Familiarity
How familiar or foreign does it feel?
Trust
How much do I trust it to guide me?
Connection
How connected do I feel to it?
Identity
How accurately does it describe who I understand myself to be today?
Pride
Which aspects am I comfortable demonstrating?
Discomfort
Which aspects am I not proud of demonstrating?
Vulnerability
Which aspects expose me most?
Expression
How does this become observable in my behaviour?
Two Modes
Metrics in Isolation
The internal system examined without comparison to another person. Who am I within myself?
Metrics in Comparison
Two profiles examined for convergence, divergence, complementarity, tension and interaction. Never for better or worse.
The Live Observation Record
The framework records the human system in motion. The original observation is preserved separately from later interpretation, and is never overwritten by conclusion.

The Central Inquiry
Who am I? What am I experiencing? What is happening within me? What am I doing about it? And what changes when I encounter something outside myself?
This is observation, description, evaluation and longitudinal self-understanding. It is not diagnosis. No psychological condition is assigned, and no score is normative.
The measurement surface is private and available to signed-in members.
This framework operates as the first live instrument of The Alleged Birth of Metacon Research : the working model under whose commitments it was formed.
